"Rapid Asparagine Depletion as a Possible Risk Marker for Pancreatitis in Children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Under Treatment with L-Asparaginase: Case Report from Five Patients"
نویسندگان
چکیده
We will be describing our experience with five patients diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), who developed L-Asparaginase (L-Asp)-induced pancreatitis during their remission induction stage. The were treated, at the State Cancer Center of Durango, Mexico (CECAN-Durango) since December 2021, along a group 30 pediatric (in phase treatment) did not develop pancreatitis.

L-asparagine depletion and L-asparaginase activity in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia receiving i.m. or i.v. Erwinia C. or E. coli L-asparaginase as first exposure.
PURPOSE The present study was aimed at investigating L-asparaginase (L-ASE) activity (in plasma) and L-asparagine (L-ASN) depletion (in plasma and CSF) in children with newly diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) exposed for the first time to different L-ASE products. PATIENTS AND METHODS During the induction treatment of the AIEOP ALL 95 study, 62 patients were treated with either Erw...
متن کاملHypoglycemia associated with L-asparaginase in acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment: a case report
A patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia repeatedly developed hypoglycemia during chemotherapy. Comparison of serum glucose trends between chemotherapy with and without L-asparaginase (L-Asp) demonstrated a strong association between L-Asp and hypoglycemia. Critical blood sampling during hypoglycemia indicated hyperinsulinism, suggesting that L-Asp induced hypoglycemia in the patient through...

Treatment of Ifosfamide -induced Encephalopathy with Methylene Blue in an Adolescent with Relapsed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: a case report
Ifosfamide is one of the most important chemotherapeutic agents used for the treatment of numerous types of malignancies. Neurotoxicity is one of its life-threatening complications and is potentially fatal. In this paper we present a case of severe ifosfamide- induced encephalopathy in an adolescent with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in whom treatment with methylene blue led to complete improvem...
متن کاملAsparaginase-associated lipid abnormalities in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
To further elucidate the incidence and potential mechanism of asparaginase-associated lipid abnormalities in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), we serially obtained fasting lipid and lipoprotein studies on 38 of the 43 consecutively diagnosed children with ALL before, during, and after asparaginase therapy. We also evaluated a second population of 30 long-term survivors of childh...
